"Lullaby"

The idea to this track was to create some sort of soothing lullaby, like Steve Vai's "Whispering a Prayer". In this song he has a distinctive way of accenting his notes with volume and overdrive.

I liked these techniques and tried to emulate it with Reason, hoping it would come across in my own song. For instance, my take on the frequency roll thingy he does at 5m:37s can be heard in my song at 1m:38s.

The song builds up slowly in the first minute. This way, when the songs starts using the effect around 1 minute into the song, has more drama. In addition I used some pitch bending and piano bits at strategic places to dramatize the fragile feel of the song. The bass line again is made using my 'mahlstrom' bass. The electric lead guitar used, is a revamped version of the one used in my fifth track.
